Always kind of liked this place and when the did the Reno work I liked it even more. I'm sad I don't see as many guinea pigs but at the same time I can't buy them all. But they're so cute and hard to resist! The staff have always been great and I, oddly enough, find myself chatting with them at the till. I love the store cat and the others they have either in their kennel cages or roaming about. If the counter is a bit busy it's a fine excuse to find a cat to pet. I've also been able to find the products I want or need without issue. Some of the staff usually have helpful tips and info that can help me if I'm stuck on what to do.Jessica Troke
Very friendly over the phone. I'm in port hope and very few stores carry pet rats. I was told I can come in on a Tuesday before 2pm to make a order and the rats I ordered would be there for me the next day.BRADLEY B. WILLIAMS

Staff are great, nice to find a different variety than PetSmart. However - much more pricey than other stores. I only go to petvalu for cat food as they have some specialty brands I can't get elsewhere. Ian Quist

I've been purchasing my pet's food at this location for years and I've never seen any sort of neglect or abuse.
There's an abundance of food choices for all animals out there, and also a variety of toys for all size and breed of animal.
I've asked in the past and received great advice. I also believe they offer free nail trims, if it's still not available it once was... nice touch!.
Yesterday, I went in and purchased my usual brand of food, the person who was behind the counter (i believe it was the manager/owner) inquired if this was the food that I'd always purchased? I said yes (but I had been considering changing because of some of the things I'd heard about the brand I'd been buying - not that I told him that) with that he then explained the ingredient list on the bag and what they all meant,... FINALLY!. I've read that bag countless times, tried to look up the ingredients, all I ended up doing was getting stuck on an endless quest for the definitive answer as to what they all meant. Page after page of information, some for, some against. I was HAPPY to listen to his unsolicited advise. Not only that, he THEN went in the back, got me not ONE but TWO bags of food to sample!!!. I almost fell over. It's a big deal to change your pets food, I've asked for a sample at places in the past and was told to pay 5 bucks and they'd provide a sample.... That's customer service??
With that, I intend to be a LOYAL customer to this Pet Valu, I have been for quite some time but with the new addition of that other store in town, I will admit I did try it, After yesterday I'll never go back.
WAY to GO Pet Valu George St. I'll tell anyone who will listen about the time you took, and the customer service you've exhibited.

I have been going into this store for over 3 years and never experienced anything this unknown person has...and I have a keen sense of smell. The animals I have seen there didn't seem to be abused or neglected. The staff has always been great whenever I went in there. Obviously, you give this hate speech because you own a pet store or something like that. They have a great selection to choose from. They don't overstock on animals...obviously, not into these big puppy mills. I have been in several pet stores and always feel welcomed and appreciated at the George St and Landsdowne W stores. Believe me, I am the type to refuse to go in a store...if it is dirty, unfriendly, poor customer service, cruelty to animals, etc. They support local animal shelters. Our 2 cats are very fussy felines and very seldom are they out of stock. If they are, they contact the one on Landsdowne W and I go over there. The only ties I have with this store...great shopping experience and customer service. They seem to be the only stores that sells the only kitty krack these guys like!!!!
BTW...why do you keep going there, if you hate it so much?????
